The story begins when high school student Kazuki Muto is killed one night saving a mysterious girl from a monster, only to wake up in his school dorm, believing it to have been a dream. However, he soon finds out that dream wasn’t a dream at all when a giant serpentine monster attacks him and his sister. Tokiko Tsumura, the girl he saved, explains that the monster is a homunculus. Kazuki had been attacked and killed by it when rescuing Tokiko. However she, feeling responsible for him, revived him by placing a Kakugane medallion in his chest, serving as a replacement heart.

The Kakugane, as Tokiko explains, is an alchemical (alchemistic) device that, when activated, takes a certain form based on the Kakugane’s user, forming a unique Buso Renkin. The Buso Renkin is the only thing that can destroy a homunculus monster. Using this, Kazuki creates his own Buso Renkin, taking the form of a giant lance, later named ‘Sunlight Heart’. Along with Tokiko and her own Buso Renkin (the Valkyrie Skirt, an execution scythe), Kazuki joins the fight against the homunculi and their master.

Set in Tokugawa Japan, this manga begins by following Shiina Yuya, a bounty hunter searching for her brother’s murderer. However, Yuya quickly meets a medicine peddler named Mibu Kyoshiro, who turns out to be sharing a body with the feared samurai Demon Eyes Kyo. Over time, Mibu Kyoshiro and, to a lesser extent, Shiina Yuya recede from the story while Demon Eyes Kyo comes to the fore. Kyo’s only stated wish is to regain his own body. Following this path leads Kyo, Yuya and a variety of fellow travelers into conflict with both the Tokugawa shogunate and the Mibu tribe, a race of violent superhumans who have run Japan from the shadows for millennia.

Underlying the principal story arc of Kyo’s search to reclaim his body, there are many smaller arcs, each leading to the next one. The basis of many later revelations are established many volumes in advance. In the manga, it is revealed that all of the Mibu, except for Kyo, are descendants of “Battle Dolls”, creatures created by the Mibu to fight for their amusement. In time, the Battle Dolls come to believe they were the real Mibu, and that the real Mibu eventually became extinct due to in-fighting. The Mibu Battle Dolls are gradually being killed by the “Death Disease”. Muramasa’s sister was the first to be killed by the disease, but others soon followed. The disease manifests itself when the infected person reaches a certain age. For this reason, the aging process has been stopped in Antera, Tokito, and probably others.

Demon Eyes Kyo ultimately defeats the father and creator of the Mibu, the Former Crimson King, who was also the very first Battle Doll. Originally an extremely beloved and thoroughly benevolent ruler, the King had become totally corrupted by his loss of all faith in humanity, and became an insane tyrant bent on completely eradicating all of mankind. Kyo then goes missing-in-action after the final battle, which blows up the Mibu capital, and only reappeared again three years later, after which he retires from fighting and settles down to a quiet life with Yuya.

When Sam and Dean Winchester were just kids, their mother was horribly murdered in front of their father by something “supernatural”. Their lives were never the same again. Sam and Dean search for their father and along the way help anyone with a supernatural problem with the help from their dad’s journal that contains most of his knowledge about the supernatural that he had accumulated over his 22 years of none-stop obsessive hunting.

The “Secret Circle” series follows 16-year-old Cassie, who moves from California to live with her grandmother in New Salem and falls in love with a mysterious boy named Adam. But, when she enrolls in high school there, she realizes that he, she and all the other elite students at the school are witches! She befriends their leader, Diana, but soon discovers that Adam and Diana are dating, which leads to a whole bunch of complicated drama.

Set in the fictional town of Chance Harbor, Washington, the series revolves around six teenage witches who form a secret coven.

Following the death of her mother, Cassie Blake moves to Chance Harbor to live with her grandmother. The orphaned sixteen-year old slowly adjusts to the new town as she copes with the loss of her mother, but still tries to live normally. Her hopes of blending in are crushed when she is recognized by a few of the townspeople and their children, namely Adam, Diana, Faye, Melissa, and Nick. The five of them seem strangely interested in Cassie, and reveal to her that she comes from a long line of witches. She refuses to believe that she herself is a witch until Adam helps her unlock her powers – even then she is uncertain until she discovers an old leather-bound book of spells left to her by her mother. Inside the book is a message to Cassie from her mother explaining that she never wanted to tell her daughter of her powers in order to keep her safe; as the circle soon finds out, their powers attract dark and dangerous attention that constantly puts them in harm’s way.

Honestly one of my favorite fiction series for 2011.

Probably one of the most underrated TV series ever – “The Adventures of Brisco County Jr”. I’ve watch it when I was a kid, a couple of days ago, I found it on DVD and I can say that 20 years later, series are still so cool.

Hired by local robber barons, Harvard Law Graduate Brisco County, Jr. searches for the members of the infamous John Bly gang, the same men who killed his father, a famous marshal and western legend. Accompanied by his one-time rival and fellow bounty hunter Lord Bowler, Brisco rides through the West trying to bring his father’s killers to justice. Along the way, he encounters mysterious golden orbs with strange abilities and colorful characters who help or hinder his mission as he hunts down the Bly gang one by one.

Afro Samurai opening there is absolutely amazing. I wish there is full song, but for now I haven’t been lucky to find it.

Enjoy:

The exploits of four friends, who are socially only marginally above what one of them calls “the freaks”, are presented as they grow from their late teen years into adults and as they go on their quest, usually unsuccessfully, for such grown up things as beer and sex. Simon Cooper, Jay Cartwright and Neil Sutherland have been friends for some time. Insecure Simon’s main quest in life is to get long time friend, Carli D’Amato, to be his girlfriend. Jay is the big talker whose stories, especially about his sexual conquests, are more fantasy than reality. And slightly dim-witted Neil is generally two steps behind everyone else in comprehension of life, and who is always defending his father from beliefs that he’s a closet homosexual. Into the group comes its fourth member, Will McKenzie, who met them when he transferred into their school, Rudge Park Comprehensive, at the start of sixth form, as Will’s newly divorced mum could no longer afford his private school tuition. Nerdish and straight-laced Will, ridiculed for carrying a briefcase, insinuated himself in the group – not aiming his sights too high – as he tried not to be labeled as one of the freaks. Regardless, he is still the target of the school’s “psycho bully”, Mark Donovan, and the head of Rudge Park’s sixth form, Mr. Gilbert. Will’s initial saving grace in bonding with his new mates may have been that they all want to shag his pretty but protective mother, Polly.

Portland detective, Nick Burkhardt, has seen some gruesome crime scenes, but nothing prepares him for the strange visions he begins seeing: seemingly regular people momentarily transforming into hideous monsters. A visit from his only living relative reveals the truth. Nick has inherited the ability to see supernatural creatures, and as a “Grimm,” he is tasked with keeping the balance between mankind and the mythological. A reformed “Big Bad Wolf” becomes his greatest (and also reluctant) ally and confidant. It’s not long before his work as a policeman leads Nick to the criminals he once thought were only found in fairy tales.

Here is the short version of first episode.
